What are you suppose to eat if you are a vegetarian?

Answer
*sigh* I get asked this a lot.
I am a vegetarian technically classified as a lacto-octo vegetarian, meaning I drink milk and will consume yogurt and eggs. Someone who does not consume anything that has dairy or any animal products at all is called a Vegan, I admire them, I really do, but I have no idea how I would cope without milk in my cups of tea :p
I love spicy food, so I cook a lot of tagines--my two favourites are my spicy sweet potato and pumpkin with lentils and couscous, and my delicious chickpea satay.
I also make a killer no-meat meatloaf, it's made with lentils, grated carrots and BBQ sauce (meat eaters tell me it's tastes eerily authentic).
One of my favourite recipes is Chilli Con Carne (minus the Carne)--it has lentils and beans, tomatoes and I also make a yummy crunchy topping for it made from polenta.
Vegetarians can have just as interesting a diet as meat eaters do, and can be just as--if not MORE healthy!!
People always go back to the old "you don't eat protein!" argument.
Did you know that half a cup of lentils has more protein in it than a t bone steak?
