Q. I've been craving sandwich ....any good ones out there like is there such thing like vegan ham or turkey products...
A. You can buy fake meats in the grocery store frozen food section, like Morningstar farms, Quorn or Bocca...sometimes they use eggs I think though..read the labels. Here are some links to recipes..

Homemade version of Morningstar Farms Grillers Crumbles?
Q. Where I live they don't sell any of these commercial meat substitutes, so I'd like to know if I can make these or something alike with TVP or Seitan or something like that? A lot of recipes call for them and I'm not sure substituting them just for rehydrated TVP would work :/ Thanks in advance!
A. I make a vegan meatloaf with TVP, soya flour, ground mushrooms and eggplant, I have used the leftovers for veggie sloppy joe's, chili, spaghetti sauce, even Mexican taco base, mix it and cook it like if you were ground meat, I always brown my TVP with oil and the fine chopped onions before I do any dish, it adds flavour and texture, I buy a product here in Canada called Soya Chunks, they come either round, oval or flat like slices of meat, I have used them broken up for the same dishes, I mix 2 cups of TVP with 1 cup of soya flour, 1 pound of ground button mushrooms and a small finely chopped eggplant, season it and I use veggie broth/veg oil to moisten, I press this in a greased cookie sheet and bake it for 30 minutes, then cool it, I have even used it for a veggie chicken parmesan with a breading and the tomato sauce and cheese garnish, I some times use soya cheese or regular mozzarella.

So recently my husband and I have been sort of frightened at some of the things that are unnecessarily put in our food (in the name of preservation, etc.), and have decided that they are no better than poison for our bodies. For this reason, we have made the decision to become vegan, simply because veganism cuts out the things that we find most disturbing--meats, dairy, eggs--and other things that are exposed to horrible environments and processing. I have been a vegetarian in the past (I stopped when we got married because I honestly wasn't doing it very healthfully, and my husband didn't understand back then why I was a vegetarian). Now we are older and wiser and ready to make the jump, but I'm afraid he's going to miss meat, so I'm trying to explore meat substitute products (which I have never explored before). My other concern was that being vegan may be too expensive for our budget.
Any recipe suggestions (esp. with meat subs.), or cost control ideas?
Also, if anyone has any good info pages on the different kinds of meat substitutes and their culinary uses, I would really appreciate it if you sent them my way :)
